Decree-Law n. º 8/2019, of January 15, published today, lays out the legal regime for the production and usage of cannabis for medicinal purposes.

The new legal regime governs different issues, such as the authorization to produce, transport, sell, import and export cannabis based products, the authorization to place these products on the market and its prescription and dispensing.

According to Decree-Law n. º 8/2019, all the activity related with the production and usage of cannabis for medicinal purposes is oversaw by the national regulator for medicinal products (INFARMED).
